How it goes in class
Pupils say who they’d like to work with
Each pupil joins on a tablet with a code and their first name. Then they can name up to 3 classmates they’d like to work with.
Nobody else in the class sees who asked for whom.

Mixed groups, kept fair
Give each pupil an ability on your laptop: Developing, Secure or Confident. Pupils never see what you chose.
Deal mixes the class into groups of 5, with every ability in each, and keeps most friends together. It says how fair the groups are, and how many wishes it met.

Questions class teachers ask
- How do I choose the group size?
- In Setup’s Teams, under How many groups, choose People in each and type 5. With 30 pupils, that makes 6 groups.
- Can pupils say who they’d rather not work with?
- Yes, up to 2 classmates, and only you see who. Or turn it off: in Setup’s Teams, set People they would rather not be with to 0.
- What do pupils see?
- Their own group, with first names only. They never see the ability you gave them, or anyone else’s wishes. A school draft has no chat.
- Can the groups be random?
- Yes. In Deal options on the Stage, choose Mix, and the class is mixed at random. Only need groups for now? Paste the names into the team generator.
